Sensex, Nifty is trading with weak sentiments showing a negative undertone dictating the market. Alongside, the rupee opened marginally lower against the USD. The shares of Lupin Ltd, Tata Steel Ltd rose, whereas Sun Pharma, HUL, and NTPC fell in morning hours.
India’s major telecom operator, Airtel has advanced over 2.85 percent on Wednesday morning trade, to the day’s high of Rs 433.7, after the company has added 6.00 lakh new users in July 2017.
Airtel contributed about 14 points to the 150 points upward in the 30-share index today, the stock has zoomed 16.64 percent to Rs 433.7 in the last three months. In a new development, Bharti Airtel to counter Reliance Jio Phone is planning to launch its own 4G mobile, as per the report. According to media reports, Airtel will launch the Android-based 4G phone just ahead of Diwali.
Stock Options Contracts: The BSE brings provisions to introduce a facility on index & stock options contracts, in which traders can opt for a do not exercise instruction on certain in-the-money contracts on expiry day. The facility will be supportive for traders since the profit making options positions expire could lead to heavy losses for options traders. For options trading, the SST (securities transaction tax) is about 0.05 percent of the premium and STT on exercising an option is 0.125 percent. At present, all open long positions across in-the-money options contracts are automatically done and cash-settled.
The S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 31,332 up 73 points, while Nifty is trading at 9,779 up 25 points. A total of 12 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 41 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE. The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading down 0.17% at 14,961, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading down by 0.41% at 15,404.
